The Salvation Army Mid Shore announces Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, Monday September 17, noon at the Chester River Yacht and Country Club.
The Salvation Army known world wide for its’ wide range of services and projects addressing the needs of the poorest across the globe has a very effective volunteer team in Kent County. Locally, the Army’s work is led by Pat McDonald, Chair, The Salvation Army Service Unit. For over a decade Pat has recruited and trained women and men from all walks of life to serve citizens of Kent County with important crisis intervention services including assistance with rent, utilities, food and emergency housing for homeless persons.
Collaborating with other local service providers and housed at First United Methodist Church in Chestertown, Pat’s team is a committed group who serve enthusiastically and often without recognition. The luncheon is designed as a thank you for work well done and highly appreciated.
A self supported mission, The Salvation Army relies on local fund raising efforts to underwrite the units’ budget. The most visible fund raising occurs when the “Kettles and Bells” hit the streets. Volunteer opportunities are available by contacting Melissa.email@example.com.
